Update on School governance and leadership

Succession to the Dean of EDHEC Business School

Following a broad consultation of EDHEC Business School’s stakeholders (International Advisory Board, Ethics Board, Executive Committee, etc.), a committee was set up several months ago by the Board of Governors to select a new dean to replace Olivier Oger, the Dean since 1988, who will be retiring. The committee’s remit was firstly to determine the profile for the new dean and then to examine both internal and external candidates, before making a recommendation to the Board of Governors for final approval.
The decision will be taken in 2017, in time to give the new dean several months to work alongside Olivier Oger, until his departure at the end of the year. Korn Ferry International, the global executive search firm, has been commissioned to find candidates.

Chairmanship of the Board of Governors of EDHEC Business School

Richard Simonin (EDHEC Alumnus 1976), Chairman of the Board of Governors since February 2012, is to submit his resignation to the Board of Governors with effect from the end of this year, one year prior to the end of his term of office as Chairman. This is to enable his successor to conduct the final stage of the selection process for the new dean of EDHEC, which will prepare the way for an enduring and productive working relationship with the successful candidate.

In full agreement with the Board of Governors’ Steering Committee, he will be proposing Bruno de Pampelonne (EDHEC Alumnus 1981), joint Vice-Chairman of the Board since February 2012, as his successor at the Board’s plenary session on 22 November. Formerly President of EDHEC Alumni (2009-2014), Bruno de Pampelonne is also a member of the EDHEC-Risk Institute Advisory Board and of the EDHEC Ethics Board. Thérèse Lebrun, who has been a Governor since 2003 and a member of the Steering Committee since 2012, will be proposed as Vice-Chairman in his stead. Richard Simonin will remain a Governor. He has agreed to the Board’s request to become President of the EDHEC Foundation.

Richard Simonin has served the School since his entry to the Board in 1997 and has successively been President of EDHEC Alumni (1997-2003), Vice–Chairman of the Board of Governors from 2007 to 2012, and Chairman of the International Advisory Board from 2009 to 2012. The School will therefore continue to benefit from his experience and his close relations with all stakeholders.

The Committee wishes to express its sincere and heartfelt thanks to Richard Simonin for his five years as Chairman and for continuing to serve the School through his new mission for the EDHEC Foundation.
